No cabinet reshuffle ... optimism on legislative term Government keen on stability

THE message to the government in terms of what is being rumored about Cabinet reshuffle in the near future is decisive and unequivocal and has blown away the winds of uncertainty but rather promises a good relationship between the executive and the parliamentary majority. The atmosphere in the current legislative term is charged with optimism.

However, according to sources the issue of reshuffle among Cabinet ministers does not hold water because the current government looks stable and the political leadership in the country has emphasized this more than once, either directly by HH the Amir and most recently when the Amir addressed the nation on the occasion of the last ten days of the Holy Month of Ramadan, and when he addressed the opening session of the current term of the National Assembly.

The circles say, the time has come to put things in their right perspective and that a few MPs who escalate tensions in the Parliament must realize that there is no place for threats and intimidation to achieve electoral gains as is being done now by promoting rumors about Cabinet reshuffle or threatening to grill ministers.

These tactics no longer work because people are fed up such jargon and because it does not give them bread and butter but to the contrary delays the development of the country and throws the economy in shambles.

Highly reliable senior government sources have confirmed more than once the need for government stability for the success of the implementation of government program.

The sources added, the government stability is the need of the hour and this must be done by isolating the drawbacks and suspicious calls for the resignation or dismissal of ministers or promoting rumors about Cabinet reshuffle because such rumors send a message of instability and is a clear evidence of shortsightedness of lawmakers in political work.

If the government and the National Assembly want to complete the parliamentary term then it is time for positive cooperation.
The two authorities — particularly in light of the development projects and a new vision promised by His Highness the Prime Minister — the so-called ‘majority’ fully realizes the obstacles put in the path of development by some deputies particularly concerning the giant projects because of narrow personal interests in total disregard for the Constitution and their role as lawmakers.
The sources recalled the recent shameful parliamentary practices of some deputies who violate the laws and promote crimes through their intervention in contradiction to what they propagate about virtue, morality and law.
The sources say it is truly regrettable to see practices of some MPs have violated political norms and even ethics. To add insult to injury some of them issue statements and hold seminars to instigate ordinary people.
Kuwaitis are now convinced that such symposia and statements are mere exaggerations and will only help the concerned MPs to lose their popularity among the voters. The general mood among the voters is they want to elect an MP who will represent them in the National Assembly.
The change in popular mood is not a coincidence. It is the result of considerable efforts exerted by His Highness the Prime Minister over the past few years with clear directives that citizens must be informed about all matters related to their daily affairs. This has brought perfect harmony between the parliamentary majority and the government in the best interest of the nation.
The sources pointed out the last speeches of HH the Amir contain several instructions to the executive and the legislative authorities so that they do not encroach on each other’s authorities and His Highness the Prime Minister has focused on this issue on more than one occasion. More importantly the government is committed to its constitutional limits and this is what the people have now realized.
Few lawmakers do not understand that they are covered by the fog of personal interests and that their parliamentary immunity no longer gives them the right to interfere in the affairs of the Public Prosecution or security authorities or other institutions.
