Indian swindles compatriots, flees to US ‘Broker’ friend bags thousands

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 20: Four Indians have lodged a complaint at Salhiya Police Station against their compatriot who allegedly swindled them to the tune of more than KD 12,000 and escaped to the United States, reports Al-Anba daily.
The complainants said their ‘friend’ who resided in the same building with them for the last eight years was a broker and convinced them to invest their money in an American company which recently started business in Kuwait and Iraq.
The complainants said they were shocked when the caretaker of their building started selling the suspect’s furniture and informed that the suspect called and said he would remain in the United States and not return to Kuwait again.

Court cuts sentence: The Appeals Court presided over by counselor Ali Mohammed Al-Durai’ fined a Kuwaiti citizen KD 50 for abusing a compatriot verbally and beating him in public to tarnish his image.
The case file indicates the defendant engaged the complainant in a quarrel and they exchanged blows, in the course of which the defendant slapped and stabbed the complainant, resulting in injury to his hand. This was verified in the medical report the complainant provided.
Earlier, a Court of First Instance had ordered the defendant to pay KD 20 fine for abusing the complainant, and sentenced him to two years imprisonment for the attack.
