State of affairs in a posh locality of Kuwait where garbage continues to accumulate
Supermarket shut down ‘Some caravans in violations’
KUWAIT CITY, Nov 15: Head of the Kuwaiti Hajj Delegation Dr Khalid Al-Mazqour announced that six inspection teams have detected violations with some Kuwaiti Hajj caravans in Saudi Arabia, reports Al-Qabas daily.
Al-Mazqour noted the teams are responsible for the safety and wellbeing of pilgrims, and they involve representatives from the Ministries of Interior, Awqaf, Health and Defense.
He added the teams will continue inspecting the caravans to ensure they are free of violations, while the violating caravans will be reported to the Legal Affairs Department and Hajj Affairs Committee in Ministry of Awqaf for legal action.
Garbage accumulated: Of late it has been noticed that garbage seems to be accumulating in most areas of the country. Containers remain filled for a prolonged time period giving rise to obnoxious smells and various kinds of diseases. Digging is in progress in many areas and a place once dug is left open for many days causing inconvenience to motorists and passersby. This has largely been noticed in areas where expatriates live. Contractors with many jobs in hand keep shifting from one project to another, as a result of which work is delayed. At the onset of an extended Eid break garbage collecting trucks or cleaning company workers have almost disappeared (at least for a couple of days). Municipality workers are also seldom seen as roads, dividers and other infrastructure need urgent repair
Supermarket shut down: The Capital municipal branch shut down a supermarket where rotten and spoilt meat was being sold in Shuwaikh area, reports Al-Anba daily.
Director of the branch Faleh Al-Shimmari said the supermarket was closed according to the instructions of Director General of Kuwait Municipality as it did not have proper health and other licenses.
He added that they will continue to launch surprise inspection campaigns at shops and wholesale markets in Shuwaikh area to ensure that only good food items are sold to citizens and expatriates.
He also asserted that municipality will take necessary legal procedures against the violators.
