‘5’ allowed to hike prices Ministry plans to add 50 new items to ration
KUWAIT CITY, Nov 15: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry is planning to make 50 new items available to citizens through the ration card, Chairman of the Committee for Controlling and Following up Prices at the Union of Consumer Cooperative Societies Mohammed Al-Jabri told Al-Rai daily.
Al-Jabri emphasized that the step is aimed at obliging traders to reduce prices of commodities mentioned in the ration card. He added that the committee has been able to unify prices of 6,100 food and consumer items and “decrease prices of 330 items by 5 to 25 percent in cooperation with 35 companies.”
Al-Jabri said the committee allowed five companies to increase the prices of their products by less than 10 percent after studying all legal documents, including banking documents and bills, which proved that the prices of those items increased in the country of origin.
