‘MoI may fail in maintaining security at proposed cities’ Panel on promotion to review files after Eid
KUWAIT CITY, Nov 13: Security expert Fahad Al-Shelaimi is of the view that Ministry of Interior might fail in performing its security role at the new cities expected to be established in Sabiyya, Khairan, Sabah Al-Ahmad, Jaber Al-Ahmad and Al-Mutla’a in the next few years, reports Al-Shahid daily.
In an interview with the daily, Al-Shelaimi said about 1,600,000 citizens and expatriates will be residing in those cities. He went on to recommend security cameras and guards as part of concrete measures the ministry must adopt to maintain security there.
He stressed the ministry must cooperate with other sectors, including the cooperative societies, civil institutions, religious and social groups, plus the Ministry of Communications to promote security.
Meanwhile, the committee in charge of promoting officers working in the Interior Ministry will meet after Eid holidays to review the files of nominees to determine those deserving promotion, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The daily quoting reliable sources added the committee is headed by the Undersecretary of Interior Ministry Lieutenant General Ahmad Al-Rujaib, with the membership of assistant undersecretaries in the ministry.
In the meantime, the committee is expected to check the list of names of nominees to ensure their files are free of violations, and more than 200 nominees will be promoted to the rank of colonel, lieutenant, captain and major.
In the meantime, according to senior security officials, Ministry of Interior by the end of this month will promote about 767 officers completing various training courses to the rank of lieutenant and colonel, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
The officials noted the list of names of nominees was submitted to the Interior Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Khalid Al-Sabah, and he’s expected to grant his approval immediately after Eid holidays.
The list of Interior Ministry officials who are likely to be reshuffled is with ministry Undersecretary Lt General Ahmed Al-Rajeeb, reports Al-Shahed daily.
Assistant undersecretaries, director generals and assistant directors are expected to be affected by the reshuffle, said a reliable source, adding Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Khaled Al-Sabah gave instructions in this regard before he left for Germany.
Sources hinted that the announcement of the new positions and structure will be made after Eid Al-Adha holidays.
