KUWAIT CITY, Nov 13: Proposal by the government to increase the salary scale from KD 1,250 to KD 1,500, in line with the basic insurance system will only benefit leadership at the government and oil sectors receiving high salaries, unlike the retirees whose salaries are less than KD 1,000, reports Al-Rai daily.
However, sources from Public Authority for Social Security (PASS) stated the proposal is appropriate and will benefit all employees, particularly with workers receiving moderate and low salaries that represent the majority of pensioners. They noted the new system will include deceased people whose pensions are distributed to their young children, widows and other beneficiaries.
“There will be 25 percent increment, ranging between KD 100 and KD 400, based on the salary and retirement age of the insured person, whereas the government will subsidize the system by 25 percent”, sources added.
In the meantime, the National Assembly is expected to approve the proposal.
