KUWAIT CITY, Nov 7: An Egyptian expatriate, with a Syrian and another Palestinian national, assaulted a policeman in Farwaniya as they engaged him in a quarrel. The policeman is said to have sustained serious injury due to the fight.
Acting on information, securitymen rushed to the scene and arrested the culprits, who admitted to beating the policeman after he asked them to show their civil ID cards and they refused. The case was registered for investigation.
‘Khat’ seized: Securitymen on Sunday arrested a Kuwaiti for the possession of an undisclosed quantity of khat in Umm Al-Haiman.
While patrolling the area, police noticed the suspicious movement of a vehicle, so they signaled for the driver - a Kuwaiti - to pull over. The suspect looked agitated when the officers demanded for his identification documents, prompting them to thoroughly check his car. This led to the discovery of an undisclosed quantity of khat.
The Kuwaiti was referred to the concerned security department for the necessary legal action.
Pay compensation to heirs of colonel: The Court of First Instance recently ordered the Ministry of Interior undersecretary, an insurance company and a Kuwaiti to pay blood money, amounting to KD 10,000, to the heirs of a police officer with the rank of colonel who died in a car accident while on duty.
According to the defense panel, the officer was killed when his car was hit by the vehicle of the Kuwaiti. The panel also presented a certificate issued by the ministry, which states that the officer died while on duty and an eyewitness found him lying on the ground still clad in his uniform.
The court then ordered the Ministry of Interior undersecretary, the insurance company and the Kuwaiti to pay KD 10,000 to the heirs of the colonel, because he died in a car accident while on duty and in police uniform.
Mom gets kids: A court supervised by consultant Fahad Al-Ashfour granted a Kuwaiti woman complete custody of her children after the husband reportedly left the country and stayed away for four years, and neglected his responsibilities.
The judge ruled the man wasn’t fit to cater for the children because he suffers from psychological disorder. Therefore, the woman has been given temporary custody to the children, instead of Public Authority for Minors Affairs (PAMA).
The wife filed a lawsuit against the husband through lawyers Abdullah Al-Sabah and Hassan Al-Ajmi for shunning his responsibilities and running off without paying the due expenses.
In the meantime, Al-Ajmi requested the woman must be granted the guardianship of the children instead of PAMA, while the father is compelled to take up his responsibilities.
