Kuwaiti flag used as doormat in Aussie university

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 2: Kuwaitis studying at a university in Canberra were shocked when they saw the flags of the Kuwait and the Republic of Iran being used as a doormat with the word ‘Allah’ and ‘Oil’ written on it, reports Al-Rai daily.
The daily added some students unintentionally stepped on the flags and after discovering the folly they reported the incident to the Embassy of Kuwait in Australia.
According to an unidentified source it was a deliberate act to humiliate Kuwait. The source added the students were shocked to see the name of Allah being abused.
A Kuwaiti student, Khaled Al-Asfar said Kuwaiti students in Australia have always been peaceful and have no hostility against any one. He stressed this act is a kind of provocation.
However, the Australian Ambassador to Kuwait, Glenn Miles said there was no confirmation of the incident.
Nonetheless, he stressed on the deep historical relationship between the peoples of the two countries — Kuwait and Australia — at all levels and this was evident, he said, during Australia’s support for the Government and the people of Australia to Kuwait during the Iraqi invasion.
The Ambassador stressed if this information turns out to be true, it will be considered as an individual act and in no way will affect the image of the close relationship between the two countries.
He added Australia is an open country and welcomes students from all over the world, particularly the Kuwaitis.
