Death for Kuwaiti man, jail for wife in robbery, rape, murder of expat

KUWAIT CITY: A Criminal Court supervised by Advisor Adel Al-Saqer ordered the execution of 25-year old citizen working in Ministry of Defense and sentenced his wife to 10 years imprisonment for her role in thefts, rape and premeditated murder of an Asian expatriate.
According to the Public Prosecution, the woman convinced the victim to accompany her to a place and she took him to a desert area, where he was forcibly robbed of his money and subsequently killed by the husband.
Apparently, the husband was using his wife as bait to raid the apartments of expatriates holding no valid residencies and those trading in illegal international calls. The suspects normally robbed them at gunpoint while in military uniform.

MEW official acquitted: The Court of Appeals overturned the verdict issued by a lower court, which had earlier sentenced a planning inspector at the South Zour Station affiliated to the Ministry of Electricity and Water to seven years in jail for embezzling public funds to the tune of KD 53,997,454.
Case files indicate the Public Prosecution had previously charged the inspector with embezzling public funds amounting to KD 53,997,454 through the procurement of sophisticated engines and equipment from a local company.
The Court of First Instance later declared him guilty and sentenced him to seven years in jail.  The court also ordered his dismissal from service, asked him to return the embezzled amount, and fined him double this amount.
However, the Court of Appeals acquitted the inspector after finding out that he has been wrongly accused and his rights have been violated.
