Jahra Municipality removed 607 illegal billboards in Sept Capital Traffic Dept impounds 15 cars, issues 1,496 citations
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 29: The Jahra Municipality has issued statistics for September 2010 on inspection campaigns carried by the Municipality in various areas of the Jahra governorate, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
According the statistics the Municipality inspectors have removed 607 billboards which had been erected on government land without permission including 83 which were put along the roadsides.
Meanwhile, the Director of Farwaniya Municipality branch Ahmed Al-Huzaim said according to a report prepared by the Public Relations Department of the Municipality last September the municipality has taken necessary steps to stop violators of Municipal rules and regulations.
He added the number of shops inspected by the Food and Markets Control Department of the Municipality reached 851 and this resulted in issuing 96 citations and destruction of 73 tons of foodstuff which were unfit for human consumption according to the Municipality laws.
The official added the Department also sent 64 samples of foodstuff for lab tests and 12 of these turned out to be unfit for human consumption. He added 24,712 heads of cattle — sheep, goats, cows and camels — were slaughtered at the Municipality abattoir, of these 200 animals which were unfit for human consumption were destroyed.
He went on to say the Shops and Billboards Control Department also removed unauthorized billboards in the area and issued four citations, while Sanity and Road Works Department has impounded 173 vehicles abandoned on roadsides and issued 90 citations and 358 warnings to motorists.
1,496 traffic citations issued: During a two-day traffic campaign organized by the Capital Traffic Department 15 cars have been impounded and 1,496 traffic citations issued to erring motorist in the Capital governorate, reports Al-Rai daily.
The campaign was launched upon instructions of Director of the Capital Traffic Department Colonel Saleh Budostour.
The citations were issued for speeding and reckless driving and the vehicles have been impounded for violating road safety rules and regulations.
