Injustice, ‘abuse’ forced man to kill Filipina wife Murder hearing delayed
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 24: The Court of First Instance, presided over by Judge Wael Al-Atiqi, adjourned the hearing on the case of an Egyptian expatriate, who is accused of murdering his Filipina wife in a salon in Jabriya, to Dec 7. The court wants to bring a witness from Hawalli Prosecution to elaborate about the complaint the suspect had submitted, as well as related documents and evidence.
The suspect and his lawyer Bashar Al-Nassar from Al-Khashab Legal Group attended the session Sunday.
Al-Nassar requested the court to get a photocopy of complaint number 660/2010 from Jabriya Police Station. He said the suspect lodged the complaint two weeks before the murder and claimed that some securitymen threatened and humiliated his client. He also mentioned that his client was pressurized into not filing a complaint against his wife.
Al-Nassar also requested that his client’s psychological and mental condition be checked and added that his requests are related to the murder case.
He tried to convince the court that the injustice and humiliation which the suspect went through led him to believe that the law is not fair and that he should take the law into his own hands.
Hearing delayed: The Court of Appeals presided over by Consultant Ali Al-Adria postponed the case involving the murder of a Kuwaiti teacher to Dec 5.
The Public Prosecution on July 20, 2009 charged the suspect with premeditated murder and the possession of arms without license. Also, the suspect is said to have resisted arrest, and obstructed the implementation of orders from the Public Prosecution. A court had sentenced him to death for premeditated murder, and three years imprisonment for possessing unlicensed weapon, and another six months for resisting arrest.
Shimali referred: The Public Prose-cution referred the Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs Major General Khalil Al-Shimali to Forensics to determine why his fingers were injured during the Scope TV fracas. Meanwhile, the Public Prosecution will soon summon a female lawyer from the ruling family for questioning. The lawyer is said to have grabbed TV presenter Fatmah Al-Nasser while asking the whereabouts of Talal Al-Saed, and the presenter reportedly replied Al-Saeed wasn’t around. The investigation is going on, even as the Prosecution is waiting for reports from detectives.
