PP set to identify suspects involved in Scope TV attack Deqbasi urges govt to strictly apply Audio-Visual Law

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 23: The Public Prosecution will next week line up several suspects allegedly involved in the Scope TV attack for identification, reports Al-Dar daily. The daily quoting a reliable source added a female lawyer is among the suspects, as she was reportedly with four other female suspects during the attack. Meanwhile, media personality Fajer Al-Saed is expected to arrive at the Public Prosecution to testify as a complainant and witness in the attack, whereas the Criminal Investigation Department is expected to identify the attackers, particularly Sheikhs Faisal, Malik and Abdullah Al-Malik who have denied accusations on their involvement in the attack.

In a related development, MP Ali Al-Omair called on the concerned ministers, including minister of information to prove that Kuwait respects freedom of speech to verify the Kuwaiti democratic dispensation is likened to that of advanced countries, reports Al-Anba daily. Also, MP Ali Al-Deqbasi urged the government to strictly apply the Audio-Visual Law. “Incidents taking place in the country recently is manifest in disunity and violation of the Constitution, after the concerned authority failed to apply laws”, he explained. He went on saying the government’s silence over such incidents has led to individuals taking the law into their hands and threatening society. He warned the lawmakers will not hesitate to activate the constitutional tool unless the deteriorating situation is managed.

On the other hand, MP Mohammed Al-Mutairi hailed the Al-Malik family for the vital role it played in nation building, as well as the Kuwaiti stability. Similarly, the Cabinet released the Kuwaiti ambassador to Jordan Sheikh Faisal Al-Humoud of his duty and requested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs must appoint him as a consultant in the ministry’s Diwan, due to the Scope TV conflict, reports Al-Qabas daily. Also, the Interior Ministry has suspended the Director of Investigation at the Airport Security Department Major General Sheikh Malik Al-Humoud, based on the same incident.
