KUWAIT CITY, Oct. 9: The Director General of Citizenship and Passports Affairs Major General Sheikh Ahmad Al-Nawaf recently disclosed the Ministry of Interior has in the last few days revoked the citizenship from several dual-citizenship holders, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

In a statement, Al-Nawaf explained that officials in one of ministry’s departments discovered a retired citizen was holding the identification of a specific Gulf country, as the man arrived there for a transaction. He added the man and his brothers were found to be holding the nationality of the GCC country and that of Kuwait.
Moreover, the individuals in question receive their retirement salaries, even though they live outside the country. For this reason, the ministry has taken necessary legal measures against them.

Sheikh Nawaf noted the ministry does not usually identify those holding dual citizenship, but such individuals are asked to choose between the Kuwaiti citizenship and other nationalities, in case they are discovered.
