Municipality inspectors on full alert to confiscate spoiled meat Asian sells meat before test results
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 6: The Kuwait Municipality inspectors have been put on full alert and are expected to double their efforts to prevent the sale of spoiled meat including chicken, reports Al-Rai daily.
This came following reports an unidentified Asian man had succeeded in importing 63 tons of beef (cow and buffalo meat) and 17,000 cartons of chickens and sold them in the market for local consumption even before the results of test on the meat had arrived.
Earlier MP Dr Faisal Al-Muslim had submitted a parliamentary query to Minister of State for Municipal Affairs, Minister of Public Works Dr Fadhel Safar about the company which had sold the meat and chicken in January and August 2010 simultaneously which was believed to be unfit for human consumption, reports Al-Anba daily.
Al-Muslim had also asked the minister to provide him more information and documents about the company and details of legal action that had been taken or was to be taken against the company.
However, at that time Dr Safar had informed the Cabinet that a number of MPs are putting pressure to shelve the case of the company which had allegedly sold 68 tons of meat and 1,700 cartons of chicken unsuitable for human consumption, reports Al-Qabas daily.
