Al-Shurai’an holds special talks with power distribution officials MEW to relocate six depts from South Surra building
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 2: The Minister of Electricity and Water Dr Bader Al-Shurai’an held special talks with officials at the Power Distribution Network Department recently to examine the network to proffer solutions to potential problems, in order to avert repetition of crisis the ministry encountered this summer, reports Al-Anba daily.
Al-Shurai’an directed the various sectors of the department on necessary procedures they are expected to follow in that concern, and listened to complaints the heads of departments presented on major issues, among them hindrances they face during the summer period.
He required the senior officials must take note of the observations and submit them to the Assistant Undersecretary for Distribution Network Engineer Saleh Al-Muslim. He explained that consumers could make enquiries on the rate of power consumption and value of their bills through the newly established Call Centers. “This will save them the trouble of going to the ministry offices for the same purpose”, he noted.
Meanwhile, Head of the unified Call Centers Engineer Ghader Al-Quwaedi revealed the centers will start operation on Sunday. For now, we will operate in the mornings only, but the service will be available 24 hours in future, he indicated.
In the meantime, the Ministry of Electricity and Water is on the verge of relocating six departments from its main building in South Surra to resolve the issue of overcrowding at the ministry’s complex, repots Al-Anba daily.
The daily quoted ministry sources as saying four departments, including the water filling station, underground water station, technical services and the statistical department will be relocated by the end of this month, while two other departments will be moved later.
The decision came on account of overcrowding at the ministry building and lack of offices for the employees in question. Sources noted the ministry does not have need of those departments that will be moved to the ministry’s buildings in Sabhan and Shuwaikh.
