Legal bodies proposal rejected: A Cassation Court chaired by Advisor Khalid Salem held a general assembly meeting Wednesday afternoon at the auditorium of Justice Palace, in the presence of 100 advisors and judges, to discuss request by some legal authorities to make them on par with the judicial system.
The meeting rejected the request, and asked the government to turn down the proposal, which the legal committee of the Cabinet had submitted.
In a statement signed by 30 judges and advisors, they stressed no legal authority should be made on par with the judicial system, saying the issue must be referred to a neutral technical authority such as the Constitutional Court.
However, members of the judiciary are expected to appeal, if the proposal is approved by the court.

Ruling in favor of marriage: The Personal Status Court declared a Kuwaiti man was preventing his 25-year old daughter from marrying the man of her choice, and ruled in favor of the marriage with legal documentation by a relevant court.
The woman in question pleaded to the court for approval of her suitor’s intention to marry her.
Lawyer of the woman, Mohammad Al-Khuraibet explained the man was a compatriot with good moral, religious and gainfully employed in the public sector. He stressed these credentials are enough to get married.
The woman alleged that her father did not have any tenable cause for opposing the marriage, and added similar fate befell her three elder sisters, who remain unmarried until now because their father declined to approve their marriage proposals. The woman was afraid she could exceed the right age for marriage.
