12 suffer from smoke inhalation as fire engulfs building in Jahra
KUWAIT CITY, Sept 28: Twelve people, including four women, an infant, four men, a disabled woman and two firefighters suffered from smoke inhalation when fire erupted at the ground floor of a five-storey building in Jahra, which extended to the first floor and part of the second floor.
According to the Public Relations Chief at the Fire Service Department Lieutenant Colonel Khalil Al-Amir, firefighters from Jahra and Jahra Industrial Area stations participated in the firefighting operation. The officers evacuated occupants of the building, and they managed to control the blaze without it extending to neighboring structures.
Asian falls to his death: An unidentified Asian worker lost his balance and fell to his death in a suburb of Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
He was allegedly working on a building under construction.
The corpse of the victim has been referred to Forensics. Police are investigating the death.
Landmine kills shepherd: A Sudanese shepherd who mistakenly stepped on a landmine while grazing his cattle reportedly died on the spot, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The mine is believed to be remnant of ordnance left behind by the defeated Iraqi army in 1991.
