KUWAIT CITY, Sept 26: A committee tasked to conduct DNA tests for Kuwaitis born in Saudi Arabia found that 30 percent of those who claim to be born to Kuwaiti fathers are actually not the children of citizens after visiting Riyadh several months ago, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily quoting sources.

Sources revealed these people forged their documents to obtain the Kuwaiti citizenship and passports. Sources said this only proves previous allegations of irregularities in the naturalization process. 

Sources added the committee, which consists of representatives from the general departments for Criminal Evidence and Citizenship Affairs, has also discovered that 70 percent of those who claim to be children of Kuwaitis in several Egyptian cities and villages are not born to Kuwaiti fathers.

Meanwhile, sources said the concerned authorities have found 400 Kuwaitis who hold dual citizenship. Sources explained the Kuwaiti citizenship of these people was suspended without their knowledge until the necessary legal procedures are taken for the cancellation of their citizenship.
