Cabinet to discuss hepatitis test proposal for expatriates Computer malfunction hits radiation dept at Mubarak

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 26: The Cabinet is expected to discuss Monday a proposal on requiring expatriates to undergo BCR test for hepatitis to prevent the entry of those infected with the disease to Kuwait, reports Al-Dar daily quoting sources.

Sources revealed the Ministry of Health will form a number of panels, which will be tasked to inspect the private hospitals and medical centers after the re-establishment of the Medical Licenses Committee. Sources explained this step is aimed at improving the monitoring mechanism for private medical institutions, especially since the ministry has decided to refer patients, who require certain treatments, to these institutions, instead of sending them abroad.

Sources confirmed the new committees will be instructed to lay down a new mechanism for monitoring and supervising private hospitals.

Meanwhile, work at the radiation department of Mubarak Hospital was severely affected due to the malfunction of computers, reports Al-Rashed weekly.

“This is a pity, especially because the budget of the Ministry of Health is nearly KD 200 million or approximately $4.16 billion.”

This is excluding the indirect revenue it gets from fees, insurance and donations.
The total sum is approximately the budget of five Third World countries, but work in our hospitals still gets affected by minor computer glitches,” said a source.
