PBAK marks 25th year with awards night Induction ceremony held for new officers KUWAIT CITY, Sept 25: The Philippine Bowling Association in Kuwait (PBAK) marked its 25th anniversary with the awards night of the 6th Bowling Conference and induction ceremony of the new set of officers for 2010-2011 with Philippine Ambassador to Kuwait Shulan O Primavera as the guest of honour.
The programme kicked off with the invocation led by Aqeel Farisy abd Rommel Genciana. Incoming PBAK Vice President Bien Dantes welcomed warmly all the distinguished guests sthat included Vice Consul Rea Oreta, Assistant Labour Attache Ofelia Castro Hudson, other embassy staff PBAK officers and members.
Outgoing PBAK President Sonny Mariano presented the new set of PBAK officers led by Hermie Saliba (President), Bien Dantes (Vice Pres), Liza Catapia (Secretary), Maria Perla Virly (Treasurer), Josie Ilarina (Auditor), Marjorie Mercado (Membership Officer), Ric Bellen (PRO), Rod Dulay (Records Officer),Tournament Directors Eddie Pena, Cris Carungay, Romy Daus, Bong Bermillo, Bong Autida, Egay Cabildo, Rico Galang and Obet Cabrera. They were sworn into office by Ambassador Primavera that was followed by the ceremonial turnover of the bowling pin by Mariano to incoming PBAK President Saliba.
Saliba in his acceptance speech vowed to carry on the 25 years of sports excellence of the organisation and outlined the plans and activities of the group during his term. “We will continue to promote the spirit of friendship and further strengthen camaraderie among our members as well as within the Filipino community,” he stated.
Ambassador Primavera also congratulated the newly inducted officers and lauded its members for keeping group alive and active for 25 years. He recounted the times he spent with the group during his first assignment in Kuwait way back in the late 90s as he expressed happiness to be back in Kuwait again. “It feels so nice to see familiar faces and rekindle old friendship. More power to PBAK,” he enthused.
The programme hosted by Shay Lao was also highlighted by the awarding of individual and team winners in the 2010 PBAK-Cozmo-AL Muzaini Exchange Western Union 6th Conference Tenpin Bowling League.
The awarding ceremony was led by Primavera and Saliba assisted by some PBAK officers and guests. Medals and trophies were distributed to the following winners.
