Court upholds verdict acquitting woman of stealing
KUWAIT CITY, Sept 21: The Court of Misdemeanor recently upheld a verdict issued by the Court of First Instance, which acquitted a woman of stealing cars, equipment and other valuable items from an undisclosed company.
Case files indicate, the woman’s business partner filed a betrayal of trust case against her, accusing her of not giving him his share of the profits for six months. He also claimed that the woman stole all the equipment from the company, closed it and escaped.
The woman later denied the accusations, clarifying that she took all the equipment and machines because she used her own money to purchase them. She also submitted copies of the invoices to support her claim. She said her partner can enter the company anytime because he has his own key, adding she is a legal partner as stipulated in a signed agreement between them.
The woman’s attorney argued in court that his client is a partner, not a director in the company. He also presented the invoices to prove that the woman purchased the equipment and machines, so she has the right to take them.
One month after filing the case, the plaintiff received the cars, so he withdrew the case. The court then acquitted the woman.
