Violations noticed in charity collection procedures Ministry asked to assess all projects
KUWAIT CITY, Sept 21: Several violations in charity collection procedures were registered in the country and there are indications that the seventh charity project of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor was a complete failure as critical violations were found in 90 percent cash receipts, reports Annahar daily.
The Department of Charitable Societies and Organizations of the ministry has been asked to assess all charitable projects, especially the sixth and seventh projects, in line with criteria specified by laws and ministerial decisions, in addition to international regulations, and force all authorities to reconsider all means used in this field.
Furthermore, the results of inspection campaigns launched during Ramadan were disappointing as some charitable societies insisted on putting up boxes to collect cash donations and clothes at several places.
The field inspection teams confiscated a number of these boxes and issued citations against societies whose names were put up on the boxes. They also submitted a report to Ministry of Commerce and Industry stating the names of commercial establishments where the boxes were found in order to take necessary legal procedures against them.
The most prominent violations included the collection of donations without ministry’s seal on receipts, in addition to collecting clothes and other items.
