Police bust three-man gang expert in stealing cars
KUWAIT CITY, Sept 17: The Jahra police have arrested a three-man gang which specialized in stealing cars, dismantling parts and selling them to shops at the Amghara Scrapyard, reports Al-Shahed daily.
The arrest came when police received information from a secret agent that a citizen of an unidentified GCC state was frequently visiting the Amghara Scrapyard and selling car parts at a low price.
A police force was formed to monitor the movements of the suspect and armed with a search and arrest warrant issued by the Public Prosecution, raided a stable and arrested the main suspect and his two accomplices — a bedoun and another citizen of the Gulf state.
During interrogation the suspects are said to have admitted to the charge. They have also admitted to so far stealing eight vehicles and selling parts to shops at the Amghara Scrapyard.
Police investigations are continuing.
Man held for KD 12,000 fraud: Police have arrested a Pakistani who is wanted by police. He was caught inside a commercial shop in Hawally, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
During interrogation the suspect told police he was looking for a job but police found he did not have an ID except for the health insurance card.
After checking his information on police computer, securitymen discovered he was wanted in connection with two cases. He was reported absconding by his company and was also wanted for fraud by his company worth KD 12,000.
He has been referred to the concerned authorities.
Woman found dead at home: The decomposed remains of a 73-year-old woman who allegedly died of natural causes have been referred to Forensics, reports Al-Anba daily.
According to the daily the corpse was discovered after neighbors complained to the police that they had not seen the woman, who was living alone in the house, for several weeks.
The police with warrant from the Public Prosecution then forced open the door of her home and found her in her bed.
Initial reports show the woman had died three months ago.
20 cellphones seized from inmates: Security guards from the Central Prison during a surprise inspection campaign inside the wards are said to have seized 20 cellphones from some inmates, reports Al-Anba daily.
The inmates have been referred for interrogation to find out how the forbidden items were smuggled into the facility.
The daily did not give more details.
Biker dies in accident: A young Kuwaiti man, whose motorbike went up in flames following a collision with the car of an Egyptian on the Arabian Gulf Street, and suffered third degree burns is said to have died in hospital, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to reports the man was seriously injured and efforts by doctors over two days to save his life proved futile.
The accident took place near Bneid Al-Gar.
