Reports on changes in cabinet totally false, says Sheikh Jaber Ministry to hike basic salaries of army officers

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 14: The Acting Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak refuted claims about a proposed cabinet reshuffle or change, saying the Prime Minister has not discussed such a proposal with him and that, rumor mongers should desist from the act, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
Sheikh Jaber made the statement recently when he visited the Al-Maghawer Camp in Kazma Area, in the company of the Chief of Defense Staff Lieutenant General Khalid Al-Jarrah, Chief of Staff to the Defense Minister Major General Saleh Al-Humaidhi and several other senior officers.
He anticipated strong and cordial relations between the National Assembly and the government, and advised the officers must work on maintaining HH the Amir and citizens’ confidence, while the two authorities step up the standard of dialogue, decisions and relations.

In the light of grilling threats against the Prime Minister over the sport issue, he lamented the Prime Minister does not oversee sports affairs that falls under the jurisdiction of the Social Affairs Minister.
He pointed out that the ministry will increase the basic salaries of military officers. He stressed the allowances are more than salaries and since allowances will not be paid to pensioners, basic salary increment is essential to create opportunity for the officers to enjoy after service.
He revealed the Higher Military Council has discussed the increment, and forwarded the decision to the Council of Ministers. It is only waiting for its referral to the National Assembly.
