‘Appeals’ upholds life in prison, deportation for Asian drug trader Seven drug pills, finger of hashish seized from citizen KUWAIT CITY, Sept 13: The Court of Appeals recently upheld the verdict of a lower court and sentenced a Bangladeshi man to life in prison to be followed by deportation for trafficking in drugs, reports Al-Anba daily.
According to court papers the accused was caught red-handed while selling three sachets of heroin to a police agent.
At that time police had seized from the man marked police money and also the drugs from the police agent as evidence which was later produced in court.
Police had also seized narcotic pills and hashish from the car of the suspect.
Drug pills seized: A 28-year old Kuwaiti citizen was apprehended in possession of seven narcotic pills and a finger of hashish at a checkpoint in Sabahiya.
According to sources, the suspect became confused as he approached the checkpoint and securitymen asked him to stop for checking. He came out clean when they checked his data, but a packet of cigarette stuffed with hashish was found inside his pocket, after the officers searched him. He was referred to the concerned authority for necessary action.
2 motorbikes stolen: An Arab expatriate told police officers about thieves who stole two motorbikes he parked in front of his home in Salmiya, and narrated the thieves managed to steal the motorbikes, even though he placed wheel locks on them, whereas the bikes are worth KD 900. The case has been registered for investigation.
Couple arrested: Hawalli securitymen spotted an Arab expatriate with an Arab girl and asked them to show their identity cards. The duo reportedly did not have any official documents, but insisted that they were engaged to one another. Securitymen referred them to police station for further action.
Heads shaved off: Following several complaints security operatives received about youths with long hair who were teasing girls inside a commercial complex in Salmiya area, officers rushed to the scene and referred the eve-teasers to the police station. As punishment, the officers shaved their heads and they were obliged to sign bonds for good conduct before being released.
Meanwhile, four Kuwaitis were arrested for consuming alcohol during a recent campaign by patrol officers from Hawalli and Salmiya. The culprits were sent to the relevant authority.
Asian assaulted: A group of reckless youngsters mercilessly beat a 32-year-old Bangladeshi expatriate in front of a famous commercial complex in Fahaheel area. Acting on information, securitymen and paramedics rushed to the scene and referred the man to Adan Hospital for treatment.
