Norhaisa Andaw
Remains of murdered Filipina Andaw home

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 9: The remains of Norhaisa Andaw, who, along with another Filipina, Asria Samad Abdul met a violent death sometime in July this year were finally flown home Thursday onboard a Qatar Airways flight to Manila.
According to the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait, Andaw’s remains were to be met at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Friday by representatives from the Department of Foreign Affairs who will then make arrangements to have it flown to Cotabato the following day, Saturday, Sept 11 to her home province in Cotabato on the southern Philippine island of Mindanao.
Norhaisa Andaw is alleged to have been brutally murdered by her Egyptian husband right inside her workplace, a beauty salon, in Jabriya while her co-workers and some customers watched in horror as he repeatedly stabbed the victim last July 17 in a fit of jealous rage because the victim reportedly was planning to divorce him.
The husband escaped but was apprehended by police a few days later in Bneid Al Gar where he hid in a relative’s house.
During interrogation by police, the suspect, Atalah Mohammed, is said to have confessed that he killed his wife because he found out that she was having an affair. But relatives of the victim refuted his allegations, saying that he had been physically maltreating her all the time, that’s why she decided to file for a divorce to end her suffering.
The victim’s relative also alleged that the killer called him up one time and asked him to convince his wife not to go ahead with the divorce proceedings and threatened him with dire consequences if he refused. The relative also said that the victim called him up a few days before the incident, to convey a message to his wife that her husband had called and threatened to kill her if she divorced him.
Asria Samad Abdul on the other hand, allegedly was constantly beaten and tortured by both her employers who allegedly repeatedly ran over her with their car in Kabad area where they took her, to make it appear a hit-and-run incident to hide their crime.
However, outstanding sleuthing by police investigators ferreted out the truth, leading to the arrest of the Kuwaiti couple who confessed to the crime after being confronted with evidence.
The case of the two murdered Filipinas will be submitted to the court after the prosecution wraps up proceedings and compiles the results of its investigation after the Eid holiday break, according to informed sources.
