Citizenship of 27 revoked Dual nationality holders targeted KUWAIT CITY, Sept 7: The Public Department for Passports and Citizenship Affairs at the Ministry of Interior revoked the citizenship of 27 dual nationality holders after giving them a chance to choose either one of their nationality, reports Al-Shahed daily.
Reliable sources said the step was taken after studying security reports and after gathering information from a number of neighboring countries. They added that the ministry has a security mechanism which makes it easy to find out the identities of dual nationality holders.
Furthermore, sources said, citizenship is being revoked from three to four people on an average daily and most of those affected have not lived in Kuwait since long. According to sources, one dual citizenship holder, who was given the ultimatum, sought the help of one MP who in turn tried to ask the Interior Ministry Sheikh Jaber Al-Khaled to exempt him, but the minister did not yield to such pressure tactics.
