The alleged drug traffickers
Six held in drug trafficking

Anti-narcotics officers on Monday arrested six Kuwaitis, including five Interior Ministry employees — three military men, a traffic officer and civilian worker at the General Traffic Department (GTD), in addition to a security officer in a private marine company, for trading in drugs with six kilos of hashish in their possession.
Acting on information about a traffic officer who sells hashish, Director General of the Drug Control General Department (DCGD) Major General Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Khalifa Al-Sabah formed a team of securitymen tasked to put the officer and anyone who deals with him under surveillance. After gathering enough evidence, the team arranged an entrapment by sending a secret agent to purchase hashish from the officer, who agreed to meet the agent near his house in Qurain. He was arrested upon completion of the bogus transaction.

During interrogation, the officer admitted the crime and guided police to his house where they found a military officer, who turned out to be one of the suspect’s accomplices. Police also seized four fingers of hashish from them. They were taken to the DCGD headquarters in Salmiya where they admitted that they sold one-and-a-half kilo of hashish a few hours prior to their arrest. In another development, Farwaniya securitymen arrested two Asians for trading in locally manufactured alcohol with 48 bottles of local liquor in their possession, in addition to gadgets used for illegal international calls.

One of the Asians agreed to meet an undercover agent in front of his house to deliver the alcohol, leading to his arrest. He then guided police to his house where they found 48 bottles of local liquor ready for sell.
Police also arrested another Asian, who was inside the house during the raid. The officers seized some communications gadgets as it turned out the suspects are also operating an illegal international call center in the area.
