Arab trio in drug trade Vice gang nabbed

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 5: Officials of the Directorate General for Drug Control (DGDC) apprehended three youths - two Bedouns and a GCC national — for trading in drugs and seized two kilos of hashish and a gun from their possession. Sources say DGDC received information that a junior press reporter was involved in drug trading and that he was using the press as a cover for his illegal trade. A special team was then formed and it managed to convince the reporter to sell half kilo hashish for KD 750. The reporter along with his partner, a corporal in the Ministry of Defense, reached the said location in Oyoun in Jahra and exchanged hashish with marked police money.

When the detectives revealed their identity, the suspects allegedly gave a stiff resistance and the corporal even brandished his weapon. The detectives were forced to take cover, but their support forces prevented the suspects from escaping. Sources say the reporter’s car collided with a patrol car during the escape attempt. During investigations, the duo admitted that they trade in drugs and said a Bedoun living in Jahra supplies them the contraband. Officials then raided the third suspect’s stable in Jahra and found two kilos of hashish. He reportedly confessed that the drugs came from Iraq two weeks ago. Investigations indicate that the seized amount was part of nine kilos of hashish which was smuggled into the country through a truck last fortnight.

Vice gang nabbed: Jahra securitymen arrested a five-member gang which specialized in illegal international call business, sale of prohibited CDs and local brew in South Jahra. Patrols on routine duty in the area noticed a suspect carrying two water bottles and stopped him to check the contents. The suspect then reportedly confessed that it was alcohol and was meant for the consumption of his other four partners who were nearby. The officers promptly informed their patrol team leader Major Matar Al-Sebil who rushed there with some police officers. Together, they arrested the other four people and referred all five of them to authorities for further action.

Stealing from mom for wife: A Kuwaiti woman filed a complaint at Taima Police Station against her son, accusing him of stealing an airconditioning unit and KD 130 from her house in Oyoun. The complainant told police her son never liked her and he usually steals from her house only to spite her. She added her son gave the stolen items to his wife. A case was registered and police will summon the son for questioning to verify his mother’s claim.
