‘Two VIPs brought 300 Yemenis on visit to beg’; Kuwaiti caught begging KUWAIT CITY, Sept 5: In a shocking disclosure the Al-Shahed daily quoting reliable security sources said police investigations have revealed that two very important personalities brought into the country 300 Yemenis upon visit visas to beg for alms during Ramadan.
The same sources said the suspects own three companies and their activities came to light following the arrest of some beggars who told police it was not the first time they had entered the country for begging.
They also said they get 25 percent of the money they collect from begging and the rest goes for the company. The beggars added they visit Kuwait only during the month of Ramadan.
Kuwaiti caught begging: Police have arrested a Kuwaiti man for begging for alms, reports Al-Anba daily.
According to reports the ‘beggar’ visited well-known companies and said he was suffering from ill health. When he visited one of the companies, the manager made him wait in the reception area and called police.
When police took him in custody, they found on his person KD 950 he had allegedly collected by begging. He was arrested in the vicinity of the Kuwait Stock Market.
A security source said police found with the man medical certificates which claimed he needed money for treatment.
During interrogation he said in one day he collected between KD 300 and KD 600. He was released after signing a pledge not to commit the offence again.
