Hawalli police nab Egyptian expat for raping 11-yr-old compatriot girl Young bedoun jumps to death from 5th floor KUWAIT CITY, Sept 4: Hawalli securitymen arrested an Egyptian who allegedly raped an 11-year-old compatriot girl, reports Al-Anba daily. The girl’s father filed a complaint, saying when his daughter was playing in the vicinity of their house, the suspect gagged her mouth, took her to an abandoned building and raped her. Sources say the girl managed to identify the rapist in a legal line up.
Bedoun jumps to death: A young Bedoun, 23, jumped to his death from the fifth floor of a building in Hawalli, reports Al-Anba daily. His remains have been referred to forensics and police are conducting investigations.
Police believe story: A Syrian woman, who was arrested a few days ago in Salmi in possession of counterfeit currency worth KD 2,000, said she had no idea about the contents of the envelope, reports Al-Anba daily. A juvenile who was accompanying the woman said a person gave him the envelope in Saudi Arabia and told him to hand it over to a Syrian man in Kuwait, claiming that it contained medical reports. Police believe the story, especially since they discovered that the Syrian man had criminal record and was wanted by law for seven crimes. The daily did not mention whether the woman was released or not.
Boyfriend blackmails girl: Police are looking for an unidentified youth who was allegedly threatening to defame a Kuwaiti girl if she didn’t yield to his desires, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The girl lodged a complaint at Fintas Police Station accusing her ex-boyfriend of threatening to post her photos on the Internet.
Maid robs sponsor: Police are looking for a Sri Lankan housemaid who allegedly escaped after stealing KD 650 and jewelry worth thousands of dinars from her Jordanian sponsor’s house, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
In an unrelated incident, a Kuwaiti woman lodged a complaint, saying thieves broke into her house in Mahboula and escaped with all electrical appliances, the daily added.
Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department lifted fingerprints from both places to identify the culprits.
Bribing cop for girlfriend: Police arrested an Asian for attempting to bribe a police officer in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh Police Station, reports Al-Shahed daily.
The Asian, who allegedly offered to pay KD 100 to the officer, was trying to secure the release of his girlfriend who was arrested for absconding from her sponsor.
‘No terror cells in Kuwait’: Secretary-General of the Shiite Scholars Association in Kuwait Sayyed Mohammad Baqer Al-Mehri condemned terrorist operations which took place in Kuwait in the 1980’s, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
In an interview aired on BBC, Al-Mehri commented on the controversy surrounding the name of the Gulf, saying only history can tell and judge whether it should be Arabian Gulf or Persian Gulf.
He also denied reports about the presence of Iran-sponsored sleeping terrorist cells in Kuwait.
