‘Probation period should not exceed 100 days’ Employer, employee has right to end contract

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 4: The probation period for a new employee should not exceed 100 days and the law prohibits putting the employee on probation more than once under the same sponsor, reports Al-Shahid daily quoting sources from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor. Sources explained the employer and employee has a right to end the contract during the probation period.

If the employer ends the contract, he should pay the 100-day salary of the worker, sources said. Employers involved in government projects in far-flung areas are required to provide comfortable accommodation or housing allowance and free transportation to the workers. The employers should strictly comply with the amount stipulated by the ministry for the housing allowance of the workers, in addition to the specifications of the accommodation, sources added.
