Klasmeyts KK clinch PBAK 6th Conference title Siete Pares, Cozmo grab 1st & 2nd runner up posts

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 1: After a sub par performance in the 4-game series opening week of the championship, Klasmeyts-Kana-Al Khadda came up with a sterling team effort in the 5-game series second week to clinch the coveted title of the 2010 PBAK-Cozmo-Al Muzaini Exhange-Western Union 6th Conference Tenpin Bowling League. From the rest of the 10-team Final Round field, early pace setters Siete Pares and Cozmo grabbed the first and second runner positions respectively.
After the long and rigorous 23-week elimination round, ten teams headed by Xpress Roller and defending champion Klasmeyts NLB advanced to the 9-game series championship round. Also earning a trip to finals were Siete Pares, LEAF, Arsenal, West End Watches Company, World Class, Klasmeyts-Kana-Al Khadda, Rav-5 and Cozmo. With the dreaded short oiling pattern drawn for the 4-game series first week, most of the 10 finalists were expected to bowl below their respective averages. World Class headed by team prexy Ted Ashley, Bill Stiles, Lee Mills and Gina Ashley took the early lead as they defied the odds by coming up with enviable showing in games one and two were the rolled 975 and 981 for a 2-game total score of 1956 pin falls. Siete Pares led by Nitz Alinea, JR Angeles, Egay Cabildo and Faie Reyel was not far behind in second with 1921 tally. Going to the next two games of the week-1, Rav-5 was in third place with 1811 followed by Cozmo-1808, Xpress Rollers-1780, Arsenal-1733, LEAF-1721, Klasmeyts KK-1719, West End Watches Co. -1699 with Klasmeyts NLB bringing up the rear with a meager 1543.

The lead changed hands in game three as Siete Pares after a 948 stormed in front through a 2869 3-game tally. Cozmo bannered by Ronel Valencia, Noe Mahayag, Jun Hosmillo and Aris de Guzman moved up to second with 2766 with erstwhile leader World Class (2755) slipping down to third after crashing with a 799 score in game three. Xpress Rollers spearheaded by Joe Simmons, Tony Zuleta, Caloy Garay, Ric Bellen and Vicky Navarro (2743) also made progress by posting a 963 followed by Arsenal with 2695. By carding a 943 in game four, Cozmo closed out their first week outing on top of the field with 3709 pin falls while just a few pins away in second was Siete Pares who settled down with 3697. Going to the deciding second week of the finals the rest of the teams checked in as follows, Xpress Rollers-3677, World Class-3627, Klasmeyts KK-3598, Arsenal-3553, LEAF-341, RAV 5-3449, West End Watches-3400 and Klasmeyts NLB-3331.

Opening their second week final round stint with an explosive 1094 score, the Cozmo entertainment magnates spearheaded by Wilmer Linga, Ronnel Valencia and Noe Mahayag remained ahead of Siete Pares 4803-4672. Meanwhile, Klasmeyts-Kana-Al Khada with Rudy Zablan and Bong Bermillo at the helm showed their preference for the long oiling pattern as they submitted a 1013 that lifted their 5-game output to 4611 pin falls that was good enough to move them into third place. Even as Cozmo (5744) retained the lead after another game, KLasmeyts KK (5609) inched dangerously closer to the leader with another scintillating 998 score in game 6. After another game Cozmo (6649) hanged on to the lead with Klasmeyts KK (6567) chopping again a huge chunk of their advantage. Maintaining their mastery of the lane, Klasmeyts KK (7543) inspired by the performance of their lady bowler Emma Gatus succeeded in taking over the leader board through a 976 in the penultimate game. With only a game left to bowl, Cozmo was in second with 7497 followed by the remaining contenders Siete Pares-7368, Xpress Rollers-7356 and Arsenal-7288.

Leaving no doubt that they were the better team that day, Klasmeyts KK went on to win the 6th Conference title convincingly by closing out with a tenacious 1055 game score and final 9-game tally of 8598 pin falls. Siete Pares who rolled an eye popping 1101 in game 9 finished second with 8469 followed by Cozmo-8457, Arsenal-8339, Xpress Rollers-8229, World Class-8145, West End Watches-8135, RAV 5-8068, LEAF-7912 and Klasmeyts NLB-7912. Champion Klasmeyts-Kana-Al Khadda was bannered in this league by team captain Bong Bermillo, Rudy Zablan, Emma Gatus, Janet Shaikh, Romy Fermil, Gary Bonifacio, Romy Daus and Bene Crucero. In taking the first runner up honor, Siete Pares banked on Nitz Alinea, Rico Galang, Faie Reyel, Ramon Aguilar, Rommel Genciana, JR Angeles, Egay Cabildo, Ritz Vidana and Ramon Mesina while responsible for Cozmo’s second runner finish were Jackie Guitang, Anna Valenzuela, Aris de Guzman, Noe Mahayag, Jun Hosmillo, Roy Pineda, Ronnel Valencia, Wilmer Linga and Ruben Cervantes.
In other PBAK related activities, the 6th Conference Awarding and Induction of Officers will be held today September 2, 2010 at 7:00 PM at the Royal Hall of the China Grill Restaurant located at the Mezzanine Floor of Souk Al Watiya (behind Kuwait Sheraton Hotel) in Kuwait City.
