Faults in phone lines rising steadily MoC signs KD 4,000,000 contract
KUWAIT CITY, Sept 1: More than 500 land telephone lines connected to the Fintas Exchange Center in Mahboula have developed fault for months, irrespective of the Ministry of Communications signing a KD 4,000,000 contract with a local company to carry out maintenance works at the systems in Jahra, Farwaniya, Ahmadi and Mubarak Al-Kabeer governorates, reports Al-Qabas daily.
The daily quoting reliable sources noted the number of faulty lines increases steadily, and the main cable became faulty just before Ramadan. He said the water lodge problem in some manholes is another reason for the faulty lines.
He explained the contracting company normally fixes about 8-12 faulty lines on daily basis, which is relatively ineffective compared to the number of lines that needs to be repaired. He indicated the Office of the Communications Minister Dr Mohammad Al-Busairi has received numerous complaints from subscribers.
“It takes about three weeks to disseminate information in that concern, whereas the ministry cannot explain rationale behind the disconnection of telephone lines, while most of the affected subscribers pay their bills regularly”, he indicated.
