KUWAIT CITY, Aug 31: An unidentified woman lodged a complaint at Jahra Police Station Tuesday against her Kuwaiti husband, who allegedly beat her when she failed to prepare Iftar meal for him.
The woman told police her husband got furious when he discovered that she did not prepare Iftar meal for him. A heated argument ensued between them, prompting him to beat her. She provided police with a medical report to substantiate her claim. A case was registered and police will summon the husband for questioning.
In a similar story, two Kuwaiti women filed a complaint at Umm Al-Haiman Police Station against their husbands, who allegedly beat them Tuesday. ‘Take money, free me’: Securitymen arrested a Bangladeshi, in his 40s, for failure to present valid identification documents and trying to bribe the arresting officers in Fahaheel Tuesday. Security sources revealed the Bangladeshi tried to pay KD 60 to the officers, who arrested him for violating the Residency Law, since he failed to present valid identification documents during the routine inspection in the area. He was referred to the relevant security department for prosecution.
Afghani, Bangladeshis in drug smuggling: Customs officers at the Kuwait International Airport foiled an attempt by an Afghani expatriate to smuggle about half kilo of heroin, which he was carrying in his stomach. Apparently, the man exploited the sanctity of the holy month to push drugs.
According to the comptroller of Customs at the airport, Suleiman Al-Fahd, the officers uncovered the crime thanks to the state of the art facilities used in the surveillance. The suspect has since been referred to the concerned authority for prosecution.
Meanwhile, anti-narcotics officers on Tuesday arrested two Bangladeshis for trafficking in drugs with 250 grams of heroin in their possession.
Security sources said Director General of the Drug Control General Department (DCGD) Major General Ahmad Al-Khalifa received information about two Asian drivers trading in drugs in Hawally, Dai’ya and Dasma. He immediately formed a team of officers tasked to put the suspects under surveillance.
After gathering enough evidence, the team obtained a search and arrest warrant from the Public Prosecution. They then raided the suspects’ house in Dasma where they found 250 grams of heroin.
During interrogation, the suspects admitted the crime and told police they were trading in drugs on behalf of some drug dealers. A case was registered and investigations are ongoing to arrest the other drug dealers.
In another development, securitymen arrested two Asian youths who were snatching money and other valuables from people near the Avenues Mall.
Reportedly, the men threatened their victims with sharp objects and stole money, cell phones and other valuables.
During investigations, the men confessed that they committed nearly 25 such thefts in the area. They were referred to authorities for further action.
