Fireman turned ‘sheikh’ swindles huge money from Kuwaiti women

 KUWAIT CITY, Aug 31: Police have arrested an unidentified employee of the Directorate-General of the Fire Services for impersonating a member of the ruling family and swindling several Kuwaiti women by promising to invest their money in a profit-making business venture. He is said to have cheated the women to the tune of KD 90,000, reports Al-Rai daily.

According to reports the women went to police when the man switched off his cell phone or refused to answer calls.
However, after a complaint was filed the ‘Sheikh’ was called to the Amiri Diwan and he denied the story. Police investigations led to the arrest of the suspect and he is said to have admitted to impersonating a member of the ruling family to rob the women.
He added he took advantage of the situation when the sheikh gave him his Civil ID to complete some transactions on his behalf.
 
Unfit for eating: During a surprise campaign inspectors from the Mubarak Al-Kabir branch of Kuwait Municipality are said to have removed 173 illegal billboards and destroyed 750 kilos of foodstuff because it was unfit for human consumption, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
In other news, inspectors from the Kuwait Municipality, Ahmadi branch have also destroyed one ton of meat and 270 kilos of cheese for the same reason. The spoiled foodstuffs were seized from the stores of cooperative societies located in Ahmadi.
 
70 kilos hashish found: The Kuwaiti Coast Guards have taken into possession 70 kilos of hashish from the depth of the sea off Kubbar Island, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to reports the heavy bag was caught in the nets of the fishermen and they handed it over to the Coast Guard Department.
