KUWAIT CITY, Aug 30: Mcdonalds Kuwait took the lead and were five victories and one point clear of second placed Toyo Tires after action continued for the 2nd week in the 17th Conference “5th Toyo Tires Cup” at Fahaheel Sports Center, Friday. Worley Parsons Resources & Energy were lying third but just too many victories behind the top two placers while Western Union Money Transfer were propping up the standings. The event is being organized by the Filipino Badminton Association in Ahmadi (FBAA), headed by its President Ronald Margate, along with the support of the dedicated group of office-bearers.

Men’s A
In Men’s A, McDonalds (A) scored a total 4-0 victory over McDonalds (B) and also secured 10-2 points as Albert Marcelo and Joms Tantiangco crushed Rows Bugas and Ed Antonio 16-14, 15-5, while Dave Laguio and Philip Marimla overpowered Sonny Cajipe and Gerry Labagnoy 15-11, 15-5, Albert and Dave outlasted Rowx and Sonny 15-6, 12-15, 15-9 and the tandem of Joms and Philip fought for every point to edge Ed and Gerry 15-17, 15-2, 15-12.

Toyo Tires scored a 2-1 win and 7-2 points against Worley Parsons while one game is pending after Francis Enriquez and JP Parayno thrashed Rommel Carlos and Edward Pascual 15-4, 15-6 and the tandem of Allan Bondoc and JP hammered Jong Rimando and Edward in back to back sets 15-8, 15-8. Worley Parsons did not go home empty handed when Joenel Seva and Rommel outlasted Gaurav Joshi and Francis 15-10, 11-15, 15-12 in a seesaw battle.
Worley Parsons (B) completed a 2-1 win and collected 6-3 points against Western Union Money Transfer with one game pending as Sherwin Felizardo and Bon Elamparo overwhelmed Carlo Bornilla and Norman Abad 15-10, 15-12 while Ron Margate and Tony Osea brushed aside Gerry Aguilar and Emil Millanar 15-13, 15-13. Western Union bounced back through Carlo and Gerry when they put their best effort to overcome Sherwin and Ron in 2 extended sets 15-12, 16-14.

Later that day, McDonalds (B) struck back against Worley Parson’s (A) to almost pull together a 3-1 landslide victory and collect 9-3 points as Sonny and Gerry overwhelmed Rommel and Edward in back to back sets 15-7, 15-7, while Rowx and Sonny had a mouthwatering clash and outlasted Joenel and Rommel 19-18, 15-17, 15-8 and the tandem of Ed Antonio overcame Jong and Edward 18-16, 18-16. Worley Parson’s (A) were saved by the pair of Joenel and Jong who played wonderfully to edge Rowx and Ed 5-15, 15-11, 19-17.
McDonalds (A) gained a 2-1 win and 7-2 points against Western Union with one game pending after Dave and Philip tamed Gerry and Emil 15-10, 15-10 while Albert and Dave beat Carlo and Gerry 15-12, 15-10. Western Union won when Carlo and Norman edged Albert and Joms 7-15, 15-7, 15-13.
Toyo Tires were so far winning 2-0 with 4-2 points against Worley Parsons (B) with 2 games pending as Francis and JP edged Ron and Tony 13-15, 15-10, 16-14 while Allan and JP outlasted Bon and Tony 15-17, 16-14, 15-13.

Men’s B

Toyo Tires (B) leveled with Western Union (A) with 2 wins and 6 points each. Toyo Tires triumphed when Arjay Lesaca and Friday Viernes were made to sweat to edge July Espiritu and Cesar Isidro 15-12, 10-15, 17-15 while one of the matches was won by default. In one of the most attended categories – Men’s C – Toyo Tires (B) nearly completed a landslide victory against Toyo Tires (A) with a 3-1 win and 8-4 points as Raymond Albay and Roman Malabanan brushed aside Joepet Matias and Noel Enbon 15-5, 17-15, while Eric Farthing and Melissa Al Bannay blended well on the courts and overcame Benedict Garcia and Rochelle Baldomero 15-13, 16-14 and the tandem of Roman and Melissa were made to sweat to edge Noel and Rochelle 15-8, 13-15, 15-11. The tandem of Joepet and Benedict saved the day for Toyo Tires (A) when they hammered Raymond and Eric 15-9, 15-8.

McDonalds (A) collected a 3-1 win and 7-5 points against McDonalds (B) as James Blaz and Majed Abdul Aziz outlasted Dino Mendoza and Alvin Godoy 15-9, 13-15, 15-9, while Cesar Castro and Claire Agsao overpowered Edwin Manzano and Cathy Lesaca 15-6, 15-7 and James and Cesar edged Dino and Edwin 15-17, 15-13, 15-11.
