Chop, chop … gone

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 30:  An Asian expatriate accidentally chopped his finger while working at a company in Shuwaikh Sunday evening. The victim was cutting iron rods when the accident took place. Paramedics rushed to the scene, administered first aid and referred him to Sabah Hospital for treatment.


Phone shop looted: Police are looking for unidentified burglars who allegedly broke into a shop in Mangaf and escaped with 15 new cell phones, an undisclosed amount of cash money and prepaid call cards, reports Al-Anba daily. Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints to identify the thieves.

iPhones with inmates: The Central Prison Administration during a surprise inspection campaign is said to have confiscated 19 cell phones including the iPhones from some inmates who are serving terms for drug-related crimes, reports Al-Anba daily.
The inmates have been referred for interrogation to find out how these forbidden items reached the cells.

Cattle thieves sought: Police are loo-king for unidentified burglars who broke into an animal pen in Wafra and stole three heads of cattle, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. The daily did not give more details.

Juveniles wreck eatery: The Jahra police have arrested eight juveniles for damaging furniture and crockery of a  well-known restaurant in the area, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
It has been reported the juveniles wrecked havoc during a fight among them. They were released after they signed an undertaking to pay for the damage and not to repeat the act.

Wait too long: An Indian expatriate died inside his car while waiting at a red traffic signal, reports Al-Shahed daily.
His remains have been referred to forensics and sources say traffic was blocked for some time on the road due to the incident.

Wife robbed: A Kuwaiti woman has filed a complaint with the police accusing her husband of stealing KD 8,000 from her, reports Al-Rai daily.
When the wife discovered the money was missing she confronted her husband and the latter admitted to taking the money but also refused to return it. The husband has been summoned for interrogation.

Cop car joyride: Police have arrested an unidentified person for driving away with the car of a traffic police officer, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to reports the officer kept the car engine running and entered the branch of a cooperative society to buy some stuff. When he returned he did not find his car.
The officer called the Operations Department of the Interior Ministry and in a very short time police arrested the thief with the vehicle and seized the vehicle. The man has been detained at a police station for interrogation.

Just a laptop: When an unidentified person called the Operations Department of the Ministry of Interior after seeing a man driving a German car throw something in a bag which looked like explosives near a fence at an unidentified location, the department dispatched bomb disposal experts to the area only to find the bag containing a broken laptop computer, reports Al-Jaridah daily. The daily did not give more details.

Vendor run over: An Arab ice cream seller suffered a fracture in his right feet and a cut on his head when a speeding car rammed into his cart in Abdullah Mubarak area late Sunday.
Eyewitnesses said a white American-made car hit the cart, ran over the man and sped away. Paramedics referred the victim to Farwaniya Hospital and the car’s description was circulated to all checkpoints.

Man, what d’ya want?: Securitymen arrested three cross-dressers in a café in Hawalli. The trio, who also held forged civil IDs, were referred to authorities, say sources.

You can’t hide: Securitymen arrested a 28-year-old Kuwaiti wanted by law for his involvement in five civil and criminal cases in Umm Al-Haiman Sunday. While patrolling the area, the securitymen noticed a speeding vehicle with tinted windows, so they signaled for the driver — a Kuwaiti — to pull over. When they checked the security records of the driver, police discovered he is wanted by law for committing various crimes. He was referred to the concerned security department for prosecution.

Chalet on fire: Acting on information firemen from Jahra, Ardhiya and Sulaibikhat fire centers rushed to a chalet in West Doha and put out fire before it spread to other chalets, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. No casualties have been reported.
