Calls to hike allowances, salaries Retirees to receive Sept salary early
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 29: Proponents of a draft bill on increasing the children allowance from KD 50 to KD 100 are still hoping for its approval in the next legislative round in spite of the government’s decision to reject this proposal, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources.
Meanwhile, lawmaker Hussain Mizyed stressed the need to increase the salaries of employees, who were forgotten by the government. He pointed out the citizens with limited income have not had any increment over the last years, so they continue to suffer due to the rising inflation and unscrupulous activities of merchants who increase prices without any valid reason.
Mizyed called on the government to end the suffering of employees, who have not been granted any salary increment, despite the approval of allowances for a majority of government employees. He argued the proposed children allowance increment is fair, since it will benefit everybody. He disclosed that he and a number of his colleagues are coordinating with each other to push for the approval of the bill.
MP Mohammad Hayef pointed out the government must increase the salaries of employees not covered by a decision issued recently on granting allowances to public sector workers. He asserted the governmental support for this group is among the priorities of the Parliament in the next round.
He asked the government to approve the recommended increase in the children allowance to be fair to everyone and help the Kuwaiti families overcome their financial burdens.
