3 maids jump for dear life; 65 youths held

Three housemaids jumped from the first floor of a building in Sulaibikhat to escape from a fire which engulfed their room and sources say one of them suffered a pelvic fracture while the other two escaped with minor injuries, reports Al-Seyassah daily. Firefighters from Sulaibikhat and Ardhiya fire brigades extinguished the fire and prevented it from spreading to the whole building. 

13 beggars caught: Securitymen arrested 13 beggars in Salhiya, Sharq, Surra and Murghab Saturday.
Acting on a tip-off, the securitymen launched a massive inspection campaign in the aforementioned areas, leading to the arrest of 13 beggars, who were referred to the relevant department for investigation and other necessary legal action.
The security authorities have stepped efforts to eliminate begging in the country, especially during Ramadan.


65 youths held: Traffic police and patrolmen of Mubarak Al-Kabeer governorate launched an intense campaign against reckless motorists recently, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Sources say 65 youngsters were arrested for performing stunts with their vehicles and endangering lives of others, 73 cars were impounded and 300 traffic citations were issued during the campaign.

Beggar arrested: Police arrested an Arab woman for begging, reports Al-Shahed daily.
Reportedly, the woman filed a complaint at Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh Police Station saying two young men assaulted her and ran away with her handbag containing KD 150 which she earned by begging at a commercial complex.
A case of begging has been registered against the woman and police are looking for the two thieves.


Cable thieves sought: Police are looking for thieves who stole  electrical cables from five electrical transformers in Sa’ad Al-Abdullah area, reports Al-Shahed daily.

Doing drugs in public: Police arrested two youths for smoking in a public place and for consuming drugs, reports Al-Rai daily.
The youths were smoking cigarettes rolled with hashish in a public car park in Sabahiya and ran away on foot when police approached. Police, however, chased and arrested the youngsters in possession of cigarettes rolled with hashish and 42 narcotic pills, and referred them to authorities.
