First day of Eid on Friday: Ujairi Ramadan 30 days

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 28: Renowned Kuwaiti astronomer Dr Saleh Al-Ujairi has declared that Friday, Sept 10, 2010 will be the first day of Eid Al-Fitr, indicating this Ramadan will be of 30 days, according to the astronomical evidence available, reports Al-Anba daily.

Dr Al-Ujairi revealed there will be no need to sight the moon for Eid this year because the majority of Islamic countries will fast for 30 days. “It is impossible to sight the moon after the 29th of Ramadan, so people will not sight it in many Islamic nations and Ramadan will end on Thursday, Sept 9, 2010, whereas Eid will be celebrated on Friday.

As regards the recent humid condition, the country will continue to experience the same temperature until next Wednesday. The southeasterly wind, accompanied by water vapors, is currently blowing on the surface of the Gulf water, whereas the coastal regions are more affected.
Al-Ujairi argued the percentage of humidity this year is relatively normal compared to the previous years. He explained that many people feel this year’s humidity is exceptional because they regulate the air conditioners between 20-25 degrees Celsius at home and in cars. He noted people in the olden days did not feel the intensity as much because air conditioners were not available everywhere.
