‘Regular power cuts show big defect in MEW sector’ ‘Supplier for Jabriya, Roudha stations fixed’
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 28, (Agencies): MP Saadoun Al-Hammad wondered why some parts of the country are still witnessing power cuts when the temperatures have come down, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
Al-Hammad stated that since the beginning of the summer until now, there have been regular power cuts and this proves that there is a large defect in the electricity sector. The lawmaker asked the government to explain why power cuts are affecting many neighborhoods and mosques during Ramadan despite allocating millions of dinars to develop this sector.
He praised Minister Dr Bader Al-Shuraiaan, saying he is quick to follow up problems and visits all power cut affected areas. Indicating that there is mismanagement in some sectors of the ministry, Al-Hammad said the minister should hold the negligent accountable.
Moreover, he said, the ministry should form a committee to conduct a comprehensive survey of all old power transformers which need replacing and ensure that the job is done so that there won’t be power cuts or fires in transformers next year.

KUWAIT: The power supplier between the Jabriya (A) and Roudha (A) power-stations is fixed, said the Ministry of Electricity and Water on Saturday.
Undersecretary for Obser-vation, Control, and Data-base systems at the Ministry Ali Al-Wazan told the press that the malfunction of the power supplier Friday caused the blackout in the areas of Qadsiya, Abdullah Al-Salem, Al-Di’eya, and Al-Nuzha, adding that the ministry’s teams are now dealing with the power supplier which is linking Jabriya (A) and Hawalli (A) stations.
The ministry would be working on measures to prevent such blackouts from occurring, said Al-Wazan, noting that new contracts would be signed to replace old power suppliers with new ones in Kuwait, Salmiya, and Hawali areas.
