Kuwait has 1,320 mosques

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 28: Kuwait has always been serious with building mosques. For this reason, the country boasts of 1,320 mosques, reports Al-Seyassah daily quoting Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Rashid Al-Hamad.
Al-Hamad said this while inaugurating the Ibn Zubair Mosque, which Toyibah Khalid Zaid Al-Khalid donated in Nuzha on Thursday. He noted the government is keen on building, furnishing, cleaning and performing maintenance works at the mosques, besides Imams it selects to lead the prayers and deliver sermons, in order to broaden the knowledge of Islam and Quran.
He stressed that mosques are highly placed in Islam because they signify the holy shrine where people gather to worship, pray, and unite.
They also serve as the meeting place for scholars and points where angels descend.
It is noteworthy the Holy Prophet (PBUH) started life afresh in Madina by building a mosque, whereas his tradition (Hadith) encourages the construction of mosques.
