CID men arrest 3 Syrians for stealing buses to be smuggled to Iraq Syrian brothers accuse Bedoun of providing fake documents of vehicles
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 27: The Farwaniya CID men headed by Colonel Mansour Al-Hajri recently busted a three-man gang — Syrian brothers and are looking for a bedoun — for stealing 2009 and 2010 model buses and smuggling them out of the country and into Iraq, reports Al-Anba daily.
However, according to the confession of the three brothers they acted on instructions from an Iraqi man who operated from his home in Basra.
They also told interrogators the man would contact them through a cell phone and tell them what type of vehicle he needed. The brothers would then steal the vehicle and park it on an open ground between Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and Hassawi.
Acting on information the CID men put the brothers under surveillance and caught them red-handed while loading four stolen buses on a vehicle to be smuggled out of the country.
During interrogation the men are said to have admitted to the charge. It has also been reported the men were wanted by police for committing similar thefts and cases had been filed against them at the Farwaniya and Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh police stations.
During interrogation the brothers said it was the bedoun who provided them with fake documents to smuggle the buses out of the country.
The Syrians have confessed to stealing 25 buses. All the stolen vehicles have been smuggled out of the country into Iraq. They told securitymen they sold each bus for $500.
The sources pointed out the Farwaniya Investigations Department has sent a detailed confession of the suspects to the General Department for Criminal Investigation with a request to get in touch with the Iraqi security authorities to arrest the Iraqi man who runs the network inside Kuwait from Basra.
