Maid robs sponsor with help of lover; 50 youths heads shaved
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 24: Police arrested a housemaid for stealing KD 4,000 and jewelry worth KD 5,000 from her sponsor, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
A police source said a Kuwaiti man in Sabah Al-Nasser lodged a complaint accusing his housemaid of stealing money and jewelry from his safe. The maid denied the act at first but under pressure of interrogation admitted to giving the money and the jewelry to her lover. Police are looking for the lover.
Candy factories raided: A team from the Kuwait Municipality launched a surprise inspection campaign at factories and stores selling candies in Shuwaikh Industrial Area and confiscated about two tons of expired substances used in manufacturing candies, and other products which were found unsuitable for consumption. The team destroyed about 70 tons of foodstuffs unsuitable for human consumption, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
Fake toners seized: An inspection team from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry raided a store and confiscated 2,184 counterfeit printer toners of a known brand, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. The confiscated toners were worth KD 13,000.
50 youths heads shaved: Police arrested and shaved the heads of 50 youths who were pestering visitors at a well-known commercial complex in Al-Rai, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Meanwhile, Mubarak Al-Kabeer police issued 150 traffic citations and impounded 15 sports cars during a campaign against reckless motorists in Sabhan, reports Alam-Alyawm daily.
3 held in cable theft: Three Egyptian expatriates were arrested for stealing copper cables at a project site in Jahra, reports Al-Anba daily.
The three suspects are said to have disguised in uniform belonging to a well known contracting company. However, the thieves aroused suspicion of security guards when they started cutting cables and loaded them into a truck. Moreover, they became confused when the guards asked for their identification. Police have since referred the thieves to the concerned authority.
