Sponsors to bear as ‘beggars’ on visit visa blacklisted, face ouster
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 23: Personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department during a crackdown on people who beg for alms during the holy month of Ramadan are said to have arrested 26 people (15 in Ahmadi and 11 in Hawalli) and referred them to the authorities to prepare their deportation from the country, reports Al-Anba daily.
The name of the ‘beggars’ are added to the list of people banned from entering the country.
The daily also said the violators of the law arrived in the country upon visit visas and the concerned authorities will initiate appropriate action against the sponsors.
Press reports denied: Two weeks ago, instructions had been given to all entry and exit points in the country to photocopy the passports of travelers to ensure they are not wanted by law, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily quoting reliable security sources.
The sources denied earlier press reports which said passports of Kuwaitis were photocopied at random at the Al-Nuwaiseeb border post to track down citizens who hold dual nationalities.
The sources added this information in unfounded.
TV anchor assaulted: Kuwaiti TV director Abdullah Al-Salman has filed a complaint with the Salhiya Police Station accusing the head of a department at the Al-Tahrir Tower of assaulting him, reports Al-Anba daily.
This happened when Al-Salman went to the tower to complete a transaction to export a car and the head of the section asked him to wait for his turn.
However, when Al-Salman said visitors should be given tickets to determine their turn, the head of the department lost his temper and assaulted the Al-Salman.
