Bootlegger, 12 eve-teasers, beggars held in crackdown
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 23: Ahmadi securitymen recently launched an intensive inspection campaign in the governorate, resulting in the arrest of a Bangladeshi with 37 bottles of liquor, 12 youths harassing women in commercial complexes, and four Asian beggars.
During the campaign, the securitymen stopped a vehicle, driven by a Bangladeshi along Fahaheel Motorway, for inspection. This led to the discovery of the 37 bottles of liquor.
In other parts of the governorate, the securitymen arrested 12 youths, who were caught in the act of harassing women, in several commercial complexes in Ahmadi, as well as four Asians who were begging in the area. The securitymen referred all the arrested persons to the concerned department for the necessary legal action.
Man attempts suicide: A Kuwaiti, in his 30s, tried to commit suicide by hanging in the house of his father in Sulaibikhat Tuesday.
Securitymen and paramedics rushed to the location after receiving information on the incident. When they arrived in the house, they found the Kuwaiti’s father trying to convince him not to commit suicide. The father later succeeded in talking his son out of the suicide attempt.
Initial investigations revealed the Kuwaiti is suffering from psychological problems, which have prompted him to try to end his own life.
Mechanic cheated: A Syrian mechanic has lodged a complaint at Shuwaikh Police Station against a Kuwaiti, who allegedly cheated him.
According to the complainant, the Kuwaiti came to the garage, where he is employed, and asked him to repair his car. After completing the job, the mechanic parked the vehicle outside the garage. However, when he reported for work on Tuesday morning, he was surprised to find the vehicle was missing. He suspected the owner took the car without paying the repair fees.
The Syrian provided police with a detailed description of the Kuwaiti and his vehicle, copies of which have been distributed to various security checkpoints to ease the search and arrest procedures.
Two held drunk: Securitymen have arrested two Kuwaitis for consuming alcohol. While patrolling the Sixth Ring Road Tuesday, the securitymen noticed the erratic movement of a vehicle, so they signaled for the driver to pull over. When they approached the vehicle, they found out the driver — a Kuwaiti — and his compatriot were under the influence of alcohol. They then referred both Kuwaitis to the relevant security department for the necessary legal action.
Stolen car found: Securitymen found a vehicle, which was reported stolen two months ago, in Fahaheel Tuesday.
While on routine duty in the area, the securitymen noticed a vehicle that seemed to have been parked in the undisclosed location for quite a long time. This has prompted them to check the details of the vehicle and they discovered it was reported stolen in Reggae two months ago. They referred the car to the Impounded Vehicles Department.
Valuable pigeons stolen: A Kuwaiti lodged a complaint at Kabad Police Station against unknown persons, who allegedly stole eight pigeons worth KD 3,000 from his animal pen Monday.
The complainant told police he discovered the theft when he entered his animal pen on Monday. He immediately reported the incident to police, which lifted fingerprints from the scene to identify the culprits. Investigations are underway to arrest the suspects.
