Kuwaitis to get Iraq land ‘Not-giving up’
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 23: Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has no intention to give up land areas owned by Kuwaitis in Iraq, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily quoting sources.
Sources said the land areas and farms confiscated by the former Iraqi regime during the invasion will be returned soon to their rightful owners. Sources affirmed the ministry has been taking certain measures to protect the properties of Kuwaitis in Iraq.
Sources disclosed Director of the Real Estate Registration Department in Basra Majeed Hameed has allegedly been instructed by the Iraqi Justice Ministry to delay procedures for handing over the properties to the Kuwaitis. Although most Kuwaiti inheritors depend on old documents — some issued in the 1940s — sources disclosed many documents have been submitted, taking into consideration the changes that took place in Iraq, but the properties of Kuwaitis in this country are protected against confiscation.
