Youths, cops hurt as armed gangs storm police stations to free friend Kuwaiti cheats compatriot woman of KD 45,000

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 22: Twenty-five youths armed with whatever they could lay their hands on were involved in a fight with police at the Hawalli and Rumaithiya police stations when they tried in vain to help one of their friends escape from police custody when he was arrested for violating traffic laws, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Some youths and policemen were injured and were taken to a hospital for treatment.
The daily added surprisingly some important personalities intervened and got the troublemakers released undermining the prestige of the law.

In another incident, personnel from Kuwait Municipality accompanied by police and officials from the Kuwait Zoo and the Scientific Club recently raided the Birds Market and seized 21 snakes of various types and sent them to the Scientific Club reports Al-Seyassah daily. The personnel also confiscated from the sellers one monkey and sent it to the zoo and also seized a large quantity of fire crackers and water melons. The daily did not say if
any arrests were made.

Woman swindled: Police are looking for an unidentified Kuwaiti man for swindling a female compatriot, reports Alam Alyawm daily.
According to the complainant the suspect lured her to join him in a business venture and escaped with KD 45,000.

One hurt in fight:
A 39-year-old Kuwaiti sustained multiple injuries after engaging in a public brawl with a compatriot in Rumaithiya Sunday.
Securitymen and paramedics rushed to the area after receiving information on the brawl. They referred the injured to Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital, while the other Kuwaiti was taken to a nearby police station for questioning.

Asian beaten, robbed: An Asian man on Sunday filed a complaint at Fahaheel Police Station against two unknown persons clad in ‘disdasha’ (national dress), who allegedly beat him and took his KD 200 and mobile phone.
The complainant provided police with a medical report to substantiate his claim, in addition to a detailed description of the suspects and their vehicle.  Copies of the description were distributed to various check points and security centers to expedite procedures for the arrest of the suspects. 

Bootlegger nabbed: Police have arrested an Asian man for bootlegging, reports Annahar daily.
The daily quoting security sources said police acting on information put the under surveillance for 24 hours before police raided his apartment in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and caught him red-handed in possession with 24 bottles of booze and liquor manufacturing equipment. The suspect and the contraband have been referred to the authorities.

Maid attempts suicide: An Asian housemaid who tried in vain to end her life by jumping from the balcony of her sponsor’s apartment in Fahaheel, has been admitted to the intensive care unit of the Adan Hospital, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Without going into details the daily said a case of attempted suicide has been registered against the maid.
