23 held teasing girls, families 4 Kuwaitis, 5 expats perish in accidents from Aug 15-20

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 22: Officers from the Jahra Security Directorate arrested 23 youths for harassing girls and families in a commercial complex in the area.
The officers detained the teenagers at Jahra Police Station until their parents came and signed pledges to ensure that their children will no longer repeat the act.
Security sources warned the directorate has intensified efforts to monitor activities in shopping malls and other public areas to curb this phenomenon.

4 Kuwaitis, 5 expats perish in accidents: The Criminal Investigations Department at the Ministry of Interior in its weekly statistical report mentioned that nine people — four Kuwaitis and five expatriates — died in road accidents during Aug 15-20. The victims were either run over or were involved in collisions.
The ministry called on all road users to abide by traffic rules and to drive safely. It added that the number of casualties increased in the recent past.
Meanwhile, a Kuwaiti man and woman were injured when their vehicles collided with each other between Sabah Al-Salem and Adan areas on Sunday. Securitymen and paramedics rushed to the scene and referred them to Adan Hospital for treatment.
Also, two Kuwaitis were injured in a three-car pileup on the Sixth Ring Road. Medical Emergency Department men rushed them to Jahra Hospital while securitymen got the vehicles removed from the road. Furthermore, an Indian, 22, suffered injuries in his head, a thigh fracture and various other injuries when he was run over by a vehicle in Salmiya. He was rushed to Mubarak Hospital for medical care.
In a separate incident, an Iranian, 28, was seriously injured when a car knocked him down in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area. He was referred to Farwaniya Hospital for treatment. Furthermore, a Kuwaiti and an Egyptian expatriate were injured in a two-vehicle collision on the Fourth Ring Road. Both men were referred to Al-Sabah Hospital.

Thesis on sale: A team of inspectors from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry recently raided a shop in Ahmadi and closed it administratively, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to knowledgeable sources the shop was selling thesis for Masters and PhD degrees.
Reliable sources told the daily the each thesis was being sold for between KD 1500 to KD 3,000.
The same sources said investigations have revealed scores of Kuwaitis have managed to get degrees in this manner.
